Drug driver does burnouts on Qld highway

A drug-affected man has been arrested after allegedly performing burnouts on a busy Queensland highway and being chased by a police helicopter.

Police say officers saw the man, 21, doing burnouts and driving dangerously on the Ipswich Motorway just after 11pm on Saturday night.

A police helicopter was able to track his car until he was caught in heavy traffic after he drove away from police who had initially tried to pull him over.

His car was finally stopped with stingers.

The man tested positive to drug-driving, had his car impounded, was issued with a 24-hour licence suspension and will have to face court at a later date on a range of driving offences.
