Driver critical after Cairns crash

A man is in a critical condition after the car he was driving hit a street pole in Cairns.

The man, who is in his early 20s, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after the accident in the suburb of Brinsmead early Saturday.

A Cairns Base Hospital spokesman said the man, who was the only person in the car, was in a critical condition on Saturday afternoon.
