Qld dozen arrested as 'ice ring' busted

A dozen people have been arrested as detectives wound up an alleged ice ring in central Queensland.

The group, which faces 48 drug-related offences, were arrested after raids this week in Gladstone and Tannum Sands.

Police allegedly found 12 guns, four stun guns, more than $13,000 in real and counterfeit cash, ice, cannabis and cannabis plants.

"The targeting of those individuals who are involved in the sale of ice into our communities remains one of our highest priorities," Detective Superintendent Jon Wacker of the Drug and Serious Crime Group said.

"This is a battle we must continue to fight to ensure the protection of our communities."

Det Supt Wacker said the closure of the operation sent a "strong message" to those who decided to peddle drugs.

"It remains only a matter of time before you are located, arrested and your proceeds of crime seized," he said.

Since the operation began in June 2015, a total of 38 people were arrested on 117 charges.

Detectives seized about $100,000 worth of ice, $96,000 in cash and 16 firearms and weapons.

One person has been remanded in custody, while the other people will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 15.
