Country Qld school to reopen after fire

A heritage-listed Queensland school will reopen on Thursday after a suspected arsonist destroyed buildings and classrooms on Anzac Day.

Dalby State School was closed to all students on Wednesday so a police investigation, safety assessments and the clean-up could continue.

Firefighters were called to the Darling Downs site about 12.30am on Tuesday following reports of a blaze.

It took about three hours to extinguish the fire, which destroyed buildings more than 150 years old.

Administration facilities, a staffroom, two classrooms and a specialist music room were all destroyed.

Police said initial investigations showed the fire had been deliberately lit.
