Qld's pirate wannabe facing charges

A would-be pirate has been charged after allegedly brandishing a knife on the Gold Coast set of the new Pirates of the Caribbean film.

It comes after a search began on Tuesday to find the man, who had dressed in a pirate costume, complete with a parrot on his shoulder.

He allegedly pulled a knife on a security guard who stopped him from entering the blockbuster's Helensvale set before fleeing into nearby bushland.

The wannabe seafarer was located on Wednesday morning at Palm Beach.

The 22-year-old man has been charged with one count of going armed as to cause fear.

He'll appear before Southport Magistrates Court on March 27.
