A motorist who pinned a police officer between two cars while trying to flee a Gold Coast petrol station without paying is on the run.

Two police officers pulled into the Frank Street station at Labrador after seeing a store attendant running at the Toyota Aurion to stop the driver from taking off at about 11.15pm on Thursday.

A constable who got out of the police car became pinned between it and the other vehicle when the motorist accelerated, before driving off, crashing into a parked car and then running on foot.
