Concession boost for homes in Qld budget

Queensland's upcoming state budget will include a $400 million boost to concessions to ease pressure on household budgets, bringing the total up to $5.3 billion, the Labor government says.

The additional funds are designed to help Queenslanders manage the cost of living by increasing access to things like electricity and water rebates, as well as prescription glasses, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

She said she was concerned too many people didn't know all the rebates and concessions that were available to them.

The premier said people could learn more about what they're entitled to in advertisements to be put in local papers, as well as the new Smart Savings website.

"Smart Savings is all about helping Queenslanders save money on everyday living expenses so they have more money in their pocket," the premier said on Sunday.

There are a range of special discounted rates for seniors, people with health issues and young people going into training, she said.
