Commonwealth Games baton to be Qld made

A Brisbane company has been contracted to design the baton for the Queen's Relay ahead of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

West End-based Designworks edged out interstate competitors for the job of creating a baton which will be carried from Buckingham Palace across 71 nations bearing a message from the Queen.

"It's a big challenge ... what's really important is that we can capture the essence of the Gold Coast," Designworks director Warren Schroder said.
