Committal for alleged Qld killer continues

A court hearing to determine if a woman accused of murdering a Brisbane brother and sister is to face trial will continue after claims she confessed to setting fire to her alleged victims' house.

April and Ian Bailey were found dead inside their Deception Bay home, which had been set alight, with Danielle Lee Fels charged with their 2004 murders and arson.

Aaron Saunders, a friend of Fels, testified at her committal hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court, saying she told him in 2005 that she'd set the house on fire "after some people were killed".

Fels had been a suspect in the case for more than 10 years but was not charged until 2016 after fresh evidence came to light.

But under questioning by Fels' defence barrister Catherine Morgan, Mr Saunders admitted his memory may have been affected by his regular amphetamine use at the time.

The committal hearing resumed on Tuesday after hearing in March that Fels had a fling with the boyfriend of her alleged female victim on the night of the killings.

The hearing continues.
