Charges dropped against NRL players

Two Samoan NRL players who were arrested over a night club brawl in Brisbane have had charges against them dropped.

North Queensland centre Tautau Moga and Wests Tigers back-rower Sauaso Sue were among several men arrested following the fight outside Fortitude Valley nightclub Hot Gossip on October 19.

The fight, which followed an official team function and also involved Canterbury's Reni Maitua, resulted in the trio being fined $10,000 by the NRL and stood down from Samoa's opening Four Nations clash against England.

Maitua's matter was on Thursday adjourned until January 22 after his lawyer told Magistrate Noel Nunan that a submission has been sent to police prosecutors for consideration.

Maitua is on bail and did not appear in court. He has been charged with two counts of assaulting or obstructing a police officer.

Moga was charged with committing a public nuisance in a licensed premises, while Sue was charged with assaulting police and public nuisance.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Carrie Davidson on Thursday sought to formally offer no evidence of the charges.

Magistrate Nunan dismissed the charges.
