CFMEU says seizure warrant unlawful

A raid on the Brisbane headquarters of construction union CFMEU was based on false claims that previous orders to hand over documents had been ignored, a court has heard.

The union, which has an injunction in place banning the Australian Federal Police from inspecting the seized material, told the Federal Court in Brisbane on Tuesday that no request for documents had been received by state secretary Michael Ravbar.

The case was adjourned until early December while lawyers working for the union prepare a bid to overturn the "unlawful" warrant.

Police from the trade union royal commission's special task force searched the Bowen Hills offices last week, reportedly looking for evidence of document destruction.
