Central Qld siege ends after 36 hours

A man at the centre of a 36-hour siege in central Queensland has been taken to hospital after surrendering to police.

The ordeal began just before midnight on Tuesday when police responded to a disturbance in the Gladstone suburb of New Auckland.

He had barricaded himself into a house in Oregon Court armed with a knife and fuel.

Police revoked the emergency situation at 11am on Thursday, shortly after the man surrendered.

He was taken to Gladstone Hospital for observation.

Investigations are continuing.
