Fires that destroyed around 50 cars at two vehicle wrecking yards on Brisbane's northside are being treated as suspected arson attacks.

Police say the fires on Beams Road, Fitzgibbon, and on Sandgate Road at Boondall, occurred within 20 minutes of each other late on Friday.

Several houses on either side of the Boondall business were evacuated and both blazes caused road closures.
