A man involved in a riot outside a remote Cape York police station has been released on parole.

Kurt Wolmby, 26, was one of 15 people charged after rocks were thrown at the Aurukun police station and vehicles in September 2013.

The unrest started after a man was tasered at a shop and taken into custody.

It prompted extra police to be flown into the town, which had erupted into a another riot involving hundreds of residents six months before.

Mr Wolmby - who pleaded guilty to one rioting charge - was on Monday given a nine-month jail sentence with immediate parole.
