Cairns man charged with murder

A 37-year-old Cairns man has been charged murder after a man he allegedly assaulted two weeks ago died in hospital.

Police say the accused was involved in a fight with a 51-year-old man at Kidston Street in the suburb of Bungalow on November 10.

The older man died from his injuries in hospital on November 16.

Police say the 37-year-old has now been charged with one count of murder and will next appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 31.
