Bushwalkers safe after night on mountain

Two Queensland bushwalkers, who became stuck on a mountain after one of them had a fall, have been airlifted to safety.

Emergency services personnel were winched on to Mt Barney, west of the Gold Coast, late on Sunday afternoon to help the two men, aged in their 20s.

Bad light and weather forced them to all spend the night on the mountain before they could be airlifted to safety early on Monday.

The injured man was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition with back injuries.
