A Brazilian man has been arrested at Brisbane Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle about 2kg of cocaine into the country.

Adrian Guilherme Neto, 25, was arrested about 1.30am on Monday after Customs officers allegedly found the drug concealed in the lining of his suitcase.

He had travelled from Dubai.

Neto was charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug and remanded in custody when the case was later mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Commonwealth prosecutor Colin Townes arranged for Neto to face court on Tuesday, when a Portuguese interpreter is expected to be available.
