Bikies arrested on Queensland's Sunshine Coast after AK47, gold seized

A replica AK47 assault rifle, a revolver, gold and $13,000 in cash have been seized following a series of bikie arrests on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Four men connected to the Rebels criminal gang were arrested late on Friday and during the early hours of Saturday.

Taskforce Maxima Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said a handgun revolver and ammunition were earlier found hidden in a secret compartment at Eerwah Vale.

That's the residence of a 56-year-old Yandina Five member, who had breached bail for serious drug offences and associating with other bikies.

The AK47 replica and some cannabis were found in another house at Tewantin, where two 36-year-old men and a 23-year-old male lived.

"The searches located a number of illegal weapons," Insp Smith told reporters in Brisbane.

Gold bullion worth $20,000 and $13,000 in cash were also found at this address, which has Rebels paraphernalia on the walls.

"It's pretty obvious it's been used as a meeting place," Insp Smith said.

"You could almost say it's a makeshift clubhouse."

Six different searches were carried out across the Sunshine Coast on Friday morning.

The arrested men were charged with possessing a restricted weapon, which carries a maximum jail sentence of seven years and a $33,000 fine.

They all appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Saturday morning, with two of them remanded in custody.
