Bike trail larrikin saved from brown snake

The adventure motorcyclist was making fun of his mate after he flipped over a log and lay flat on his back in thick grass just off a bush trail.

But the laughing soon stopped when he spotted a deadly brown snake slithering beside his companion.

Footage of the harrowing moment was captured on a helmet camera, apparently at Hervey Range near Townsville in Queensland, and uploaded to YouTube by user "Gary John" on Saturday.

"Don't move!" Gary tells his fellow motorcyclist, who keeps still but urges Gary not to disturb the grass too much in case the snake "bites me on the ass".

They count to three and Gary pulls his companion up by the arms and out of strife.

"Wait 'til you see that on film," Gary is heard saying, before the pair continue along the bike trail.
