Bashed Qld man dies of head injuries

A man bashed at a house party south of Brisbane on the weekend has died of head injuries in hospital.

The Beenleigh man, 37, passed away on Wednesday - four days after he was allegedly attacked by a group of five males on Saturday night.

Two of them - Kawana Renae Pinikera, 36, and a 17-year-old - have been charged with grievous bodily harm and may now face upgraded charges when they return to court.

They faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday and have been remanded in custody, with their matters adjourned until next Tuesday.

Police say the 37-year-old man was assaulted in the front yard of a property in Aragon Street, Beenleigh.

It's alleged the group of men fled the scene when other occupants at the residence interrupted the assault.

The man returned to his home but his condition deteriorated and he was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Sunday.

Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or know what sparked it.
