Armed robbery fended off with pricing gun

An armed robber has taken fright at a female shop attendant who attacked him with a pricing gun in a store in Brisbane's south.

The male offender, wearing blue gloves, picked up what appeared to be a box cutter off the counter and threatened the attendant at an Upper Mt Gravatt shop on July 8.

The female remained composed during the robbery and grabbed a plastic pricing gun and started trying to hit the man who momentarily retreated before grabbing the attendant's wrist.

She broke the hold and he then walked off but she followed him out of the store.

Police described the offender as being African or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, 165cm tall, aged in his early 20s, of average build, small beard under his chin and wearing a grey shirt, dark pants, dark cap and sunglasses.

He was seen driving a white Hyundai i20 with registration plates 934 RQL.
