Man in custody after Queensland siege

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly sparking a siege in the Queensland town of Maryborough on Tuesday afternoon.

About 12.30pm on Tuesday a police officer went to a home on May Street, when he was confronted by a man believed to be armed.

The officer called for assistance and the road was cordoned off, with negotiators brought in to try to resolve the standoff.

A 54-year-old man was taken into custody around 4:10pm, and is speaking to officers.
