Alleged Qld shotgun bandit fronts court

A man is behind bars after he allegedly used a shotgun to blast his way into a tavern before holding up two other businesses in Queensland's Sunshine Coast district.

Joseph Michael Scotney was arrested over Monday's alleged crime spree when police raided a property at Alexandra Headland.

It is alleged the 25-year-old used a shotgun to blast open the doors of a Caloundra tavern, where he tried but failed to steal cash from an ATM about 1.30am on Monday.

He is further accused of using the weapon to rob a Glenview service station, and a fast-food outlet on the Bruce Highway in the Glasshouse Mountains.

Scotney appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday on more than a dozen charges including discharging a weapon in public, armed robbery and burglary.

He was remanded in custody and is due to face court again on Friday.
