Alleged Qld robber nabbed 16 years on

The long arm of the law has finally caught up with a man who allegedly robbed a Queensland service station 16 years ago.

Police have charged a 36-year-old Marcoola man with one count of robbery with violence over a 1998 robbery at a Coolum service station on the Sunshine Coast.

The accused allegedly assaulted and threatened the 19-year-old male console operator before fleeing with cash.

Detective Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards said the arrest was a warning to all criminals that there is no time limit when it comes to past offences.

"This result is a credit to the hard work police have invested into this case over a number of years," he said in a statement.
