Alleged Qld gunman nabbed over crime spree

A man is facing a string of charges after allegedly using a shotgun to blast his way into a tavern before holding up two other businesses in Queensland's Sunshine Coast district.

The 25-year-old was arrested over Monday's crime spree when police raided a property at Alexandra Headland.

It's alleged he used a shotgun to blast open the doors of a Caloundra tavern, where he tried but failed to steal cash from an ATM about 1.30am on Monday.

Police say he later used the weapon to rob a Glenview service station, and a fast-food outlet on the Bruce Highway in the Glasshouse Mountains.

He was arrested when police went to the Alexandra Headland property on Monday evening.

He will face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday on more than a dozen charges including discharging a weapon in public, armed robbery, burglary, unlawful use of motor vehicle and drug possession.
