A man who was allegedly tortured on the Gold Coast in January will be cross-examined at a committal hearing for the accused.

A magistrate ordered the alleged victim and the arresting officer to give evidence at a two-day committal hearing for a group of five men at the Southport Magistrates Court in February.

Yunus Badaa, Giovanni Vladik, Victor Wolfram, Alexander Pasquill and Jaymin Higham have all been charged with various offences including deprivation of liberty and torture.

It's alleged the men were part of a large group that took a 26-year-old Loganholme man from his home on January 5.

The man, who says he was taken to Brisbane before being tied to a chair at a Southport mechanic's shop, was discovered by police bloodied and beaten.

It's alleged he was assaulted, had his groin cut and paint thinner poured over him.

The committal hearing has been set down for February 22 and 23.
