Aggressive Qld crash victim tasered

A man who crashed his car in north Queensland has been shot with a stun gun by police after he lashed out at emergency service workers.

They were called to the Bruce Highway north of Proserpine, about 1.45am on Thursday after reports a car had crashed into a ditch.

Paramedics found an unconscious 25-year-old man inside the vehicle but as they were removing him, he regained consciousness and allegedly assaulted them.

One was allegedly bitten while the other was punched.

Police officers struggled to take the driver into custody and shot him with a stun gun when he continued to behave aggressively.

A search of the vehicle turned up a small stash of cannabis.

The man will appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on Friday after being charged with obstructing police, possessing dangerous drugs and other drug-related offences, and seriously assaulting a public officer.
