A pool builder accused of extortion and stalking a former employee has been granted bail on strict conditions.

Dean Matthew Oliver, 44, who is facing seven charges including drug offences in Brisbane Magistrates Court, is not allowed to approach the 33-year-old alleged victim or any of his family or associates.

Oliver, who owns a large pool company, will return to court on January 25.

His wife was in court for his appearance.

Oliver's lawyer told the court his client has no previous criminal history and was not "someone with a history of this behaviour" and "strenuously denied" the charges.
