A chef who allegedly detained and raped a colleague he obsessed about has been denied bail over fears his victim's safety could be at risk if he were released, a court has heard.

The 22-year-old, who can't be named, is accused of repeatedly raping a waitress at her Auchenflower unit on Tuesday.

"There is evidence to support her complaint ... in a pretext conversation before the alleged rape," Magistrate Judith Daley told the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

"It certainly is demonstrative of a certain obsessiveness towards the complainant and she's at an unacceptable risk."

There were further issues with the chef's possible release, she said.

Due to the serious nature of the charges, Ms Daley said he may flee to avoid court, interfere with witnesses and his alleged victim, or commit further offences.

The man has been charged with entering a dwelling with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and three counts of rape.

He will next appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court via audio visual link on May 15.
