One of the men accused of stealing Piggie the echidna from a Gold Coast sanctuary is now facing drug charges.

Tyson Paul Bothur, 20, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug and one count of possessing related utensils.

Bothur, who had been charged with animal cruelty and entering premises with intent over the alleged theft of Piggie from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary last month, made no comment during the hearing and was granted bail.
