Qld 'cop biter' faces Brisbane court

A woman who allegedly bit a Queensland police officer so hard that she drew blood through his uniform and vest has been granted bail amid suggestions excessive force was used during her arrest.

Jeanie Anne Reid, 19, was arrested at Brisbane's Fortitude Valley train station on Saturday night and allegedly bit the 32-year-old officer as he attempted to restrain her.

Her solicitor Nick Hanly on Monday agreed to an application for disease testing.

But he said grounds for police to oppose bail - that there was a high risk of an infectious disease being transferred to the officer - were completely unfounded.

The prosecution alleged Reid's assault began when her "head was lodged next to the victim's left-side upper torso," Mr Hanly said.

"On my instructions, there could be an issue with excessive force," he told the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

"On another reading that could also look like a head-restraining position, which is not allowed to be used by police in certain circumstances."

Mr Hanly said he was applying for CCTV footage from the station.

Reid was granted bail and will re-appear in court on November 2.
