Qld's Ross Vasta nominates for Speaker

Queensland Liberal National Party MP Ross Vasta is seeking support to run for Speaker.

A spokesman for Mr Vasta told AAP on Wednesday he was talking to colleagues to see if there is enough support for him ahead of a partyroom vote on Monday.

Mr Vasta is so far the only member of the speaker's panel - a group of deputies who fill in for the Speaker - to have nominated for the role vacated by Bronwyn Bishop.
