Qld ref murder case adjourned until May

The court case into the shooting murder of Brisbane rugby league referee Tony McGrath has been adjourned for two months.

A friend found Mr McGrath's body, with a single gunshot wound to his head, under his home in inner-city Woolloongabba on May 21 last year.

Mr McGrath had been appointed president of the Brisbane Rugby League Referees Association shortly before his death.

Susan Stewart, 45, and Tyson Taylor, 43, have been charged with his murder and are being held in custody.

Taylor is also facing charges of armed robbery, attempted murder or alternatively grievous bodily harm, arson, stupefying in order to commit an indictable offence, entering a premises with intent, and weapons offences.

Lawyers for both defendants appeared during a brief mention of the case in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are still collecting forensic evidence and prosecutors agreed to supply a full brief of evidence against Stewart and Taylor by May 12.

The matter is due to return to court for another mention on May 26.
