Drunken thug banned from 17 pubs

A Queensland magistrate has banned a man from 17 different pubs and fined him $350 after he breached a probation order.

Mark Cecil Flower, 37, was appearing in court on a disorderly conduct charge on Friday. Prosecutors said he entered the Lyceum Hotel in Longreach, Queensland, in May this year and punched a patron four times.

After hearing from the defence that Flower had an alcohol problem, and that most of his nine-page criminal history had recurred when he was under the influence, Magistrate Bronwyn Springer took action.

She banned him from 17 different licensed venues, and revoked his probation. She also fined him $350 in addition to the $400 that Flower surrendered when he lost his probation.

Flower's ban lasts for one year.
