Two men have been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer who was hit by a car at a random breath testing station at Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

Police will allege the men were in the vehicle when it turned sharply to avoid a breath test and struck the male officer before speeding off.

The officer was thrown a short distance by the impact, injuring his elbow and knee.
