Qld 'cannabis boss' denied bail

A man who allegedly organised the smuggling of tonnes of cannabis through Brisbane Airport will remain behind bars.

Gold Coast man Justin Adam Corke, 33, was denied bail in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Corke was among more than a dozen people charged with drug trafficking following police raids in Melbourne, Brisbane and on the Gold Coast last month.

He's accused of running a syndicate that smuggled $8 million worth of marijuana from Melbourne to Brisbane via domestic airports.

Corke has been charged as a vicious lawless associate under Queensland's strict anti-bikie laws which can be applied to any participant of a criminal organisation.

If found guilty of drug trafficking he faces having 25 years added to his sentence under the tough legislation.
