Qantas flight forced to turn around due to 'unusual smell' in the cabin
A Qantas flight to Sydney was forced to return to Melbourne shortly after take-off following a mid-air scare.
Collingwood Football Club supporters, including club president Jeff Browne and AFL commissioner Robin Bishop, were among the passengers on board today.
A Qantas spokesperson said the plane was forced to turn back over Sunbury in Victoria due to reports of an "unusual smell" in the cabin.

"The flight landed back in Melbourne safely and without incident," the spokesperson said.
Engineers and firefighters checked the plane after the aircraft touched down at the airport.
Paramedics were also called to check one person for smoke inhalation.

The Qantas spokesperson said within 30 minutes the airline managed to get some of the AFL supporters onto other flights.
Both Browne and Bishop made it to Sydney by mid-afternoon.
However some supporters landed at Sydney Airport just over an hour before their team were due to take on the Sydney Swans in the preliminary final.
