Qantas crew member assessed after odd smell on plane

A Qantas crew member has been taken to hospital as a precaution after a flight from Canberra to Melbourne overnight.

The QantasLink flight landed safely just after 8pm, but crew on board had reported smelling something unusual.

Melbourne Airport told 9News that emergency services were called and assessed the crew.

One staff member said they felt unwell and were taken to hospital to be assessed.

Passengers on board reported no injuries or health issues.

Technicians continue to examine the plane this morning, but flights are expected to continue without interruption.

"Pilots on a flight from Canberra to Melbourne reported an unusual smell in the flight deck before landing," a Qantas spokesperson said in a statement.

"The aircraft landed normally and the pilots and crew were assessed by ambulance officers on arrival in Melbourne.

"The pilots did not require any treatment, however one cabin crew member was taken to hospital for further medical checks.

"No passengers were impacted by the smell and the aircraft is being checked by engineering."
