Puppy scam probe: ‘Victims paid, never received dogs’

A number of people across Australia are believed to have been affected by an internet scam involving puppies.

Victoria Police said the victims were asked to make cash deposits into a bank account for a puppy, along with transport, insurance and registration fees for the animal.

After paying for the animal police said the buyers did not receive their puppy or their money back.

Police have released a number of images of the dogs falsely advertised in the scheme, which is believed to have started in early 2017.

Investigations are ongoing.
