The Palmer United Party’s Carl Judge cuts a lonely figure.

Following the resignation of Alex Douglas, Mr Judge is now both the leader and only member of the party's Queensland team.

“It’s a challenge to lead the party now we have only one member of Parliament,” he said.

Mr Douglas quit the Liberal National Party to become Palmer's first MP.

And now he has quit them in disgust.

In the first of tit-for-tat statements, Mr Douglas says "a culture of looking after mates and relatives" in the LNP is also in the Parlmer Party where the prevailing ethos is "jobs for the boys".

Clive Palmer says Mr Judge "knows how to work as a team".

“A party’s more important than one person,” Mr Palmer said.

“If one person can’t get their way, they feel they can’t stay, well then it’s fair enough that they resign.”
