A failed candidate's bid to void the Victorian election will be decided in a Melbourne court.

Voters rejected Palmer United Party candidate Maria Rigoni but she believes she was unfairly denied the right to influence their decision by the flood of pre-poll votes.

Court documents lodged in January by Ms Rigoni claim "willy nilly" changes to electoral laws, under the guise of vote counting efficiency, had affected the integrity of the poll result.

The document says people who lodged a pre-poll vote, without clearly demonstrating why they could not vote on polling day, should not have their vote counted.

A judgment is expected to be handed down at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
