Pub patron hit with gun in Sydney robbery

A late-night pub patron has been hit in the head with the butt of a gun during an armed hold-up in Sydney's west.

Three men with their faces covered entered the Wentworth Hotel on Parramatta Road just before 4am on Thursday.

The trio terrorised staff with a firearm and machetes.

One patron was hit in the head with the butt of a gun.

"He wasn't hospitalised and was treated at the scene," police Inspector Matthew Harris said.

The three men were last seen fleeing along Parramatta Road after getting away with cash.

Insp Harris said the pub was in the process of closing when the robbers stormed in.
