Prominent Australian family rocked by Snapchat selfie stalker bombshell

A prominent Australian family are shocked and sickened that a Victorian man is attempting to profit from pictures their teenage daughter sent using the image-sharing app Snapchat.

To protect the girl's privacy, A Current Affair made the decision not to identify the family.

Jayson Lunt has not been as considerate.

Despite acknowledging what he is doing is an incredible invasion of a teenage girl's privacy, he remained unapologetic for trying to make a quick buck from the photographs when approached by A Current Affair.

He wouldn't identify the third party that gave him the social media snaps or who he was attempting to sell the photographs to, but Mr Lunt says that after receiving a portion of the girl's pictures, he added her to Snapchat himself.

Victoria Police Prosecutor Sergeant Luke Devlin, who specialises in cyber crime, finds the incident "disgusting".

"I hope that he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law," Sergeant Devlin told A Current Affair.

"There's also an element of stalking in relation to his behaviour as well," he said.

Former police officer Susan McLean, who now works as a cyber safety expert, says Mr Lunt's behaviour could have had disastrous consequences.

"We don't know about her home life, her mental health, we don't know anything about her, this could have been a tipping point," Ms McLean said.

"(It is) disgraceful and appalling," she said.
