Press Gallery lets down its hair for annual midwinter ball

The who’s who of the Canberra press gallery have put on their party frocks and suits for the annual midwinter ball, a rare chance for the media to mix with politicians in a social setting.

Traditionally held in the third week of June, this year’s event has been pushed back two months because of the Federal Election.

9NEWS political reporters Lane Calcutt, Charles Croucher, Lauren Gianoli and Joel Dry were among the guests, which also includes the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader, as well as the heads of corporate Australia.

The event is held in the Great Hall in Parliament House and raises money for charity.
