Pregnant cow rescued from thick mud

A pregnant cow was rescued from deep mud last night using an excavator.

Video shows the poor animal struggling around as the rescue vehicle works to scoop away the thick black gunk surrounding it.

Around 17 firefighters were called to the Picton property, in Sydney’s southwest, to complete the rescue at around 7.30pm.

After two hours of dirty work, the cow was pulled to safety, NSW Fire and Rescue said in an official statement.

It’s understood the excessive amount of mud on the property was caused by excavation earthworks.
