Prankster charged over ‘silly salmon’ bridge jump

An internet prankster behind a series of dangerous stunts has been charged after leaping from a bridge in Brisbane.

YouTube star Luke Erwin made headlines in December when he jumped from a balcony into a pool at Bondi Icebergs Club in Sydney.

Video posted by his friend Jackson O'Doherty has emerged showing the 23-year-old plunging from the Goodwill Bridge and into the Brisbane River on January 9. 

“He jumped off it, about 20 minutes later, we got arrested …. then it all just went south,” Mr O’Doherty said in another video.

The duo has sparked the latest online craze, dubbed "the silly salmon", that involves leaps from often high vantage points.

But police are calling for a stop to the craze, with the latest footage soon to be in the hands of the courts.

Mr Erwin and Mr O’Doherty will face court on February 19 charged with one count of unregulated high-risk behaviour.
