Poll shows Liberals would win SA election

The Liberal Party opposition is poised to win the South Australian March election, according to a new poll.

The Adelaide Advertiser-Galaxy poll of 849 people was taken on Wednesday night and gave the Liberals a 55-45 statewide lead over Labor compared with 54-46 in late November.

The paper said Labor had 53.3 per cent of the two-party preferred vote in Adelaide at the last election, but this had now fallen to 48 per cent.

If this were applied uniformly, the paper said the March 15 election would see the Liberals take 11 city seats from Labor including those of six ministers.

Galaxy Research managing director David Briggs told the paper the poll suggested the biggest swing to the Liberals would be in the metropolitan electorates of Adelaide.

"While Liberal Party support remains very high outside of Adelaide, this will not result in any seats changing hands," he said.
