State and federal police have stepped up their search for five missing rocket launchers, amid the nation’s heightened terror alert.

The portable rocket launchers were stolen from an army facility in Sydney’s west in 2002.

It is believed they were buried in bushland.

“These are the sort of devices that no-one would want out in circulation, so we’ll continue to look,” NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said.

“We will not stop looking until we find them.”

The weapons were stolen by a former army Captain who was later caught and jailed.
