Man tackled to the ground by police after carpark rampage in Tasmania

A man who allegedly rammed his car into several vehicles, including police cars, has been tackled to the ground in a dramatic arrest by police in Davenport, Tasmania.

Four children in the man's vehicle are receiving medical attention after the rampage in a Kmart shopping centre carpark.  

In a video obtained by 9NEWS, police are seen smashing through the man’s car window, as the children sat inside, before pulling him from the vehicle and tackling him to the ground.

Two police officers received minor injuries arresting the 23-year-old man, from Burnie.

Police had been attempting to arrest the man who is a person of interest in outstanding family violence matters.

Two control cars and another vehicle were extensively damaged.

The man in custody is believed to have received facial injuries and an injury to his arm during the incident.

The four children inside the man’s vehicle are receiving medical attention for precautionary measures.
