Shocking footage shows Melbourne bottle shop worker threatened with gun in armed robbery

A man brandishing a gun has threatened a bottle shop worker in Melbourne and taken off with the store's cash register in an attack that has left the staff member shaken.

The offender threatened employee Peter and ripped the cash register from the counter of the Keysborough shop before fleeing in a stolen grey Toyota RAV4, which was later found in Springvale South where it had been set on fire.

"He was really clear he wanted money," Peter said.

"I didn't want to be killed ... I did exactly as he said.

"Absolutely one of the most terrible things that has happened in my life."

Two customers were in the store at the time.

One female customer was "terrified" as her male companion tried to calm her down, Peter said.

The bottle shop worker said he has had trouble sleeping since the robbery and did not want to go back to work at all.

"I can't describe how terrible it was."

Peter said the offender held the gun to his back and pushed him inside the store, demanding he open the cash register.

"It happened in just a minute or two."

The shaken worker did not get a good look at the assailant, but says if police were to find him it would be a big relief mentally.

The robber is described as 180cm tall with a solid build. He was wearing black clothing.

Detectives have released CCTV of the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward, in particular a man and woman inside the store at the time of the armed robbery.

Investigators are also asking any drivers with dash cam footage between 6pm and 7pm on December 19 on Clarkes Road, between Springvale Road and Spring Road, Springvale South to come forward.
